A while back, sometime last year, I cut off the world and recorded for a week straight with almost no contact to anyone, with excellent results..
I can feel another wave of that coming.. pretty soon i'm going to ride a light beam into sunshine studios and lock the door, writing and recording bass line after bass line, and maybe even get the 8 songs that I have left for bass completely done!! and then it'll be onto drums...
A one man band is an extreme situation, and it needs to be met with an equally extreme focus and dedication to succeed. I can't be a part of regular social behavior until this album is finished, for sale, and my live show is ready to hit the road.. it's time to really pick up the pace..
I'll still be talking to people online at the end of the night, but only if and after my work is finished for the day... I need someone to keep me accountable... so i think i'm going to post a list of goals in the morning, and then at the end of the night, i'll post how many of them I finished...
I like the thought of being accountable to you because it'll make me work more seriously.. and please, if you see me slacking... smack me (with love) Thank you..
The other day I wrote part of a bass line for a song called "Who You Are" and it really adds to the emotional impact of the song.. it's a very deep song with a lot of purpose.. I think it has the ability to help people unplug from the 1000mph pace of society and really just stop, disconnect from it and re-define themselves. Because sometimes you get lost in your life and society shapes you without you even realizing that you're becoming something you don't want to be... I want this song to be able to give people a new found sense of purpose and honesty with themselves..
In the words of incubus: "MAKE YOURSELF"
I wish all of my songs were therapeutic like this, but some are just for fun.. but you know what... fun IS therapy! so I guess all my songs are therapeutic.. I want to be a musical doctor when I grow up...
